August 2001: Skydancer
That's right, here to kick off the new feature is . . . Skydancer, everyone's favorite
pegasus! Or at least my favorite!
Officially, Skydancer
was female like everyone else in Ponyland except poor, lonely Baby Lucky . . . but
the toy is about as feminine as Arnold Swarzen Swarrzen Swarzenag
Claude Van Damme. But a lot better looking. Well, it's no surprise that his hair is better
than Van Damme's since he's a
RAINBOW PONY! Magical energy courses through his veins!
Skydancer was always a big part of my childhood MLP dramas, as he was my only stallion.
He used to get married to Parasol a lot, as I recall. But he only became my favorite pony
after his personality began to creep through my fanfics. He's a prankster, a wild
thing, a daredevil. If Mimic's tail gets knotted to a chair or Blade finds bushwoolies
packed in his closet, you know Skydancer's near. He really enjoys behind-the-scenes manipulation,
though . . . "Sadly, my best pranks are never discovered," he's been known to say. ;)
The ones that are discovered keep him on the lookout for Tex and the other Clydesdales . . .
ponies not known for their appreciation of the finer points of humor. *G*
He can sing, he can dance (Sinatra style!), he's got a razor sharp wit. What's not to love?
OVERALL:
Physical Demeanor: Yellow pegasus, Rainbow hair, magenta eyes, green seagull symbols
Hasbro-sponsored Appearances: He shows up in issue 4 of the comics, the
special Escape from
Catrina, and also is featured on a
metric ton of merchandise. Skates, balloons, rubber stamps . . . you name it, Sky has
his picture plastered across it. So THERE, Starshine!
LM-sponsored Appearances: All but dominates my fanfics, hogging the limelight
while my pony avatar, Moondancer gets maybe one speaking line. Maybe. If she's lucky.
Highlights: He's a free-spirited pegasus stallion with a kicking color scheme and a devilish grin!
He has Rainbow magic!
And he's on a ton of merchandise! ;D
Lowlights (or whatever): That attached foot means he's going to have a hard time getting into
his tux. (Maybe that's why he sticks with the bow tie, eh? ^_~)
Weirdness: Hasbro thought he was female. And they drew him as a unipeg in
one comic. Um, okaaay.
