Omen

Male standard Clydesdale

White with dark purple hair, silver comet symbol

Although Breaker was the first custom Clydesdale I completed, Omen was the first one I started. I had only a vague idea of him when I wrote him into The Courtship of Parasol as a roving schemer intent on hoodwinking the residents of Dream Valley. Eventually I decided he would be white with dark purple hair. This worked well because I had an extra Daddy Apple Delight with a slight hair trim. (His hair got transfered to Scoops, who is going to become Flare. ^_^) I also started accumulating Glorys so I could transplant his mane and tail. I considered putting a streak in his mane, but decided against it; I wanted Omen to have a very striking, simple image. The hardest decision I faced with this Clydesdale was his symbol; initially I thought perhaps a crystal ball would do, but, as one of my friends pointed out, that was rather a cliche. Besides, it would have been hard to draw. ^_~ I settled for a comet symbol with some reluctance--I didn't want him to resemble Glory too much. But it does fit his name perfectly since comets have been traditionally considered omens--usually omens of bad news. ^_^

A loner and a nomad, Omen generally pretends to be a Mystic pony to get whatever he wants--not a hard feat, considering his name, symbol, and acting abilities. (He actually has no magical ablilities whatsoever.) He deceives more out of greed than necessity, since almost any pony can survive without much more than a stomachful of greenery. Still, he is not particularly malicious . . . In Dream Valley, of course, his scheme had unexpected results--for him and everyone else. ^_^
